NovaBone and PerioGlas

NovaBone®, NovaBone-C/M® and PerioGlas® are particulate Bioglass® bone-grafting materials. NovaBone is targeted to general orthopedic surgeons, used in procedures such as spine fusion, revision arthroplasty, and general defect filling; NovaBone-C/M is specifically packaged and indicated for craniofacial and maxillofacial surgery use; and PerioGlas is specifically intended for use in dental and periodontal bony defects, including those caused by Periodontal disease. Each product can be used by themselves as an autograft replacement or as an autograft extender.

NovaBone and PerioGlas were developed by USBiomaterials, but is now owned by NovaBone Products, LLC.

These products offer surgeons the following advantages:

  • An Osteostimulative Graft Material:
NovaBone and PerioGlas are osteoconductive like other synthetic graft materials, but also more than just a scaffold for new bone growth - they support a much higher level of osteoblastic activity than seen with other synthetics. Because of this, it generates bone faster than hydroxyapatite and comparable to allograft.

  • More Predictable Autograft Success:
NovaBone and PerioGlas can reduce the variability in autograft success that comes from factors like graft particle size or source location, and improve on autograft results in other ways.
  • A Record of Success and Safety:
NovaBone and PerioGlas have been sucessfully used in over 600,000 implanted graft cases.
